About
Going Girly is an exploration of beauty and style, from a girl who’s still trying to learn the basics. It presents no-nonsense tutorials, interviews, and reviews, from a geek/tomboy perspective.
The old Going Girly site…
A few years back, in 2005, I started a blog called Going Girly. At the time, my wardrobe mostly consisted of baggy jeans, baggy sweaters and shirts, and loafers. I’d dabbled in make-up and accessorizing, including multiple ear piercings in college, but nothing “girly” had ever stuck. I wanted to learn how to go a little more girly, without spending hours in my bathroom every morning.
Going Girly lasted a few months, and during its run, I learned a bit about make-up and a bit about dressing better, but very few of the things I picked up actually made it into my daily routine. (The only big exception is that I now wear heels, instead of loafers, nearly every day.)
Now…
I’ve relaunched Going Girly as a community site this time around. I’ll still be blogging about my education in beauty, style, and “girl culture”, but I’ll also be looking to connect with YOU. I’ve set up forums for discussion and advice; I’ll read each and every comment that’s posted; and I’m planning to introduce audio and video interviews, how-tos and progress updates in addition to reviews of new products I try.
I hope you’ll join me!
<3, Melanie
