Going Girly Makeover #1
My friend, Jamie, gave me a makeover to kick off Going Girly. Check out the slideshow here.
I learned a lot about hair and makeup during our session, and though I can’t see myself wearing quite so much makeup or spending that much time on a daily basis, I’ve got two techniques I’d like to practice now…
- The Blowout: I’ve never been able to get my hair to do anything but lie flat. Jamie used mousse and a volumizing spray to help give my hair oomph. She first added volume to the roots by pulling the hair up at the base. Then, once the roots were pretty dry, she did this “pull and twist” maneuver to get the rest of my hair as straight as possible. I’m going to practice this some more and let you know how it goes.
- Curling eyelashes: I still can’t get the hang of this one. As it was explained, I’m supposed to put the top part of the curler against the base of my lashes, then squeeze to curl them. Jamie said to hold for about 10 seconds, then move my way up to the ends of the lashes, squeezing 2 or 3 times per eye. I’ve been told it helps to heat the curler a bit with a hair dryer, but not too much. Ouch!
P.S. The makeover and all photos (except the one where I’m holding the camera) are by Jamie Klausner.
